PORTLAND—The publications of Statehood Media dominated the podium of the Pacific NW Magazine Group Awards this week, winning 16 of 24 top spots across eight categories. Presented by the Oregon Newspaper Publishing Association, the Pacific NW Magazine Group Awards includes magazines from Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
“Statehood Media is excited to be named the best magazine in the Pacific Northwest by the Pacific NW Magazine Group,” said Kevin Max, Statehood Media chief content officer. “This is another confirmation of all of the hard work and creativity that our team puts into every issue and project. Passion publishing produces beautiful offspring, and 1859 and 1889 are two examples.”
Creative director Allison Bye led the design behind many of the top Statehood Media awards—Best Overall Magazine, Best Overall Design and Best Design Cover. Managing editor Sheila Miller was the key to winning second and third place honors for Best Overall Writing and Best Overall Magazine. Statehood Media’s coveted stable of writers and photographers, including Emily Joan Greene, Peter Mahar, Scott Latta, Sophia McDonald, Emily Green, Cameron Zegers and Kate Daigneault, was also recognized for excellence for their work their cover shots and features.
